According to the Official Disney Parks Blog, Space Mountain at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida will be reopening November 22nd. The attraction has been closed since April – the first extensive renovation since a previous closure in 1999.
There does not appear to be any major changes to the ride – mostly just incorporating updated technology and gadgetry. There will be some new lighting and “darkening” effects, updated color schemes, and some changes to the queue area. The track itself is layed out the same and the classic Space Mountain experience will remain intact, with technological upgrades.
The most exciting rumored difference will be the incorporation of a ride photo system. Guests will finally be able to capture their experience on the ride with a photo, similar to most of the other major attractions in the Orlando theme parks.
