Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras celebration offers the biggest party experience ever. Every year, the popular springtime event brings to you the best of fun and excitement of the Big Easy, featuring a unique family-friendly version of the famed New Orleans celebration. Universal Studios Florida is filled with a host of special attractions and shows during the event. Starting February 3 to April 7, 2018, every night it’ll be the biggest bash to look for in Florida.
Universal’s Mardi Gras parade is one of the most elaborate and colourful parade show the Event has to offer. The dazzling parade features new floats and fun activities every year. For the 2018 parade, the Event includes a massive mix of six brand-new floats to the processional. Each float is designed with a celestial theme, dedicated to the Zodiac such as Taurus, Scorpius, Virgo, Orion, Andromeda and Orphiuchus. Moreover, guests have the chance to dance along with the outrageous street performers, and go collecting beads as they come flying through the air in countless numbers.
The Mardi Gras parade is about 20 minutes in length from beginning till end. It starts from right next to the Horror Make-Up Show theatre, follows all the way around the Universal Studios Florida Park, and finally ends at where it begins. The parade start time also varies on specific event nights, such as for the 2018 Event it starts at 5:15 pm on February 6, 2018. Again at 6:45 pm on February 4, 5, 7-9, 11-15; at 7:15 pm on February 16, 19-23, 25-28, March 1, 2, 5-9; and at 7:45 pm on February 3, 10, 17, 18, 24, March 3, 4, 10-31, April 1-7.
When it comes to Mardi Gras concert line-up, it’s easily the most exciting part of the annual springtime celebration. Enjoying the concert with such big names in music is a rare treat for everyone. The 2018 line-up is sure to put the Music Plaza stage on fire. With hard hitting music performers such as Sean Paul, The Beach Boys, Fifth Harmony, Macklemore and many others it will be a blast. The concerts usually starts at about 8:30 pm shortly after the parade wraps up.
There is no seating options or special, VIP access to watch the concerts. It’s specially standing, Universal Music Plaza is an open area and you can watch the show from wherever you find a space to stand. Given the crowd on special nights, it’s advisable to get there earlier, about two to six hours prior to the start of the concert if possible. In addition to the parade and Concerts the annual event also includes mouth-watering Cajun cuisine with original New Orleans bands at the French Quarter Courtyard.
