A couple weeks ago, we told you about a baby anteater born at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and we all squeeled with delight at the adorable teeny creature! Now, @SeaWorld_Parks has Tweeted about a new delivery – a baby boy anteater, born at Discovery Cove in Orlando, Florida. For more information and cute pics, keep reading…
This little guy – a lesser anteater or tamandua – will hitch a ride on mom’s (Cypress) back for the first part of his life until he’s able to walk and find food on his own. Tamanduas are native to the forests of Mexico to South America.
They use their sharp claws and 16-inch-long tongue to eat up to 9,000 ants in a single day. That’s a lot of ants!
Discovery Cove is an all-inclusive experience in Orlando where guests can swim with dolphins, snorkel in a coral reef, pet and feed sting rays, feed exotic birds in the aviary, and eat and drink all day! For more information regarding Discovery Cove, click here.
