HOLLYWOOD RIP, RIDE, ROCKIT

This is Universal Studios news release for their new roller coaster ride at Universal Studios Florida. I went there the other day an it is a pretty big rollercoaster! It is one of the first things you see when you walk up to the entrance. This is going to be a great addition to their already world famous theme park!!! Read below.

ORLANDO, FL (March 19, 2008) – Adrenaline pumping and music thumping, you find yourself heading straight toward the sky. Suddenly, you are doing 65 mph, 17 stories over Universal Studios. Gasping with excitement, you rock out to a song you picked before strapping in. And, it’s all on video. Once the adventure is over, you edit the video to send to your friends.

This is true high-tech, customizable, multi-sensory entertainment. Scheduled to open in spring 2009, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will stake its claim as the most technologically advanced roller coaster in the world. The Universal Creative team is combining audio and special effects engineering, sophisticated on- and off-board video and one-of-a-kind guest personalization to create a roller coaster experience unlike any other.

“This is the perfect intersection of the digital age and theme park entertainment,” said Mark Woodbury, President of Creative for Universal Parks & Resorts. “Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit blends roller coaster intensity and guest interaction in a way where no two experiences will be the same.”

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit touts six near-miss moments and first-ever thrills including a record-breaking loop. Ride vehicles feature the brightest and most innovative color changing LEDs in the world. High-energy visual displays fill the queue line. With up to four ride vehicles on the tracks at any given time, and with concert lighting and special effects mixed in, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will be a true high-intensity, multi-sensory experience that is unmatched.

Guests can customize their ride experience by choosing what song will play while they’re on the roller coaster. LED boards in the queue lines will display song options from five genres (classic rock, rap, country, pop and disco). Once on-board, guests can choose their song or let the coaster’s digital sound system choose for them. When the ride is over, guests will be able to customize footage from their experience and compile it into a take-home music video.

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will be located near the Jimmy Neutron attraction traveling the southern perimeter of the Universal Studios theme park, over to the CityWalk lagoon and back.

American Idol Experience Attraction Tour

The American Idol Experience Attraction is currently in cast member previews at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and no photos are allowed. That means it’s very difficult to get pictures of the theater and set design. I hear the design looks just like the real thing from the popular TV version of American Idol.

But over the last few weeks, I have been able to walk around and get some great shots that give you a great idea of what you’re going to experience when you do get to see the show.

Epcot Flower & Garden Festival: It’s all about the princesses

The annual Disney World event is a royal affair.

45493734

Belle from ‘Beauty & the Beast’ is one of the topiaries for Epcot’s annual Flower & Garden Festival at Disney World. Giant topiaries don’t grow on trees — not even at Walt Disney World.

That sure would make things simpler than the current system, a months-long process that involves metal frames, specialized irrigation, meticulous trimming, thousands of hair pins and mounds of moss.

The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, which begins March 18, will gather more than 50 of the statues of greenery. They’re so plentiful, Disney established an official scavenger hunt for them.

Front and center of the festival will be the “Cinderellabration” area, featuring topiaries of Cinderella, Prince Charming, Belle, Beast, Snow White, seven dwarfs and, making their debut, Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip. They’ll be standing where the giant, surfing Goofy did last year.

To create that look, the outline of each topiary the topiaries is formed by a metal frame. The finished product is not solid foliage straight through: A space of 3 to 5 inches is stuffed with moss and supported by an internal cage. Being hollow helps keep down the poundage.

Plant life is then pinned to the moss.

Disney topiaries have progressed past their all-green predecessors. Now all manner of natural materials is used, especially to convey facial expressions of characters. It makes them look alive.

A trip to the Tournament of Roses Parade in California inspired Disney officials.

Blooms of note

The mist-breathing Bromeliad Dragon returns to lily pads outside China’s Temple of Heaven after a three-year absence.

The 44 towers of flowers, previously sprinkled across Epcot, will be lined up near Spaceship Earth.

Expect more — and larger — floating gardens in the East and West lakes.
