Fantasyland Under Construction

Magic Kingdom, Orlando, FL. ~ I went to the Magic Kingdom the other day with my daughter as we do often and the park was abuzz with travelers from around the world. Many had their traditional Mickey hats on, some with their Goofy hats and the occasional newlyweds with their Mickey and Minnie wedding hats showing all that they are there to celebrate their new union at the Walt Disney World Resort. A stroll down Main Street U.S.A. was a sensory overload as the sights and smells hit you as soon as you turn the corner at The Emporium and you Cinderella’s Castel at the end with the smell of Casey’s Corner hot dog shop and The Confectionary hitting you all at once. With smiles from ear to ear and a great big Mickey balloon, we set off on our adventure to see and do as much as possible before nap time. As we approached Cinderella’s Castle, I noticed that there was what appeared to be a cleaning crew on a crane, cleaning the spires of the castle. See the castle a million time before, I gave it no thought and continued to Fantasyland as this is my daughter favorite place to run around and watch the other children play. As we walked around Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel, we instantly saw what was to be a great addition to the Magic Kingdom line-up. What we saw was Disney themed painted construction back-drops bordering the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride. This is where the new Fantasyland expansion is being created and is sure to be a great addition to the dated Fantasyland area. In addition to this construction area, we noticed that all of the other buildings in Fantasyland had painted back-drops covering the tops of such rides as Peter Pan’s Flight and all rides that are attached to that side of the park. There are big thing going on here, but don’t let this discourage you and your experience at the Magic Kingdom. All of the rides in Fantasyland are fully operational and are ready enjoy. With all of the new additions, Magic Kingdom is ready to show off its new additions and its all new designs that the Disney Imagneers have worked so hard to create for travelers from around the world.
