Downtown Disney Pleasure Island Gets Overhaul

 

Walt Disney World ~  Twelve-hundred new jobs are coming to Orlando courtesy of Downtown Disney. Disney revealed Thursday that it is converting Pleasure Island into a wharf-themed district with new stores, restaurants and thousands of lights. “We think it’s going to become and exciting place, a vibrant place. That’s really the idea that led us to the emphasis of our lighting design,” said Disney Imagineer Alex Wrighter. Read more »

“Disney Junior – Live on Stage!” Next Year

One of the Orlando theme parks is about to get a new addition. Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida will celebrate the premiere marquee. Hollywood Studios ~ Before I jump into the weekend, there is some great news to share. Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida has reopened their one-of-a-kind showcase of the history of Walt Disney and The Walt Disney Company – Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream. The gallery at Disney’s Hollywood Studios retains its original focus, but has a new look and feel. The corridors feature an elegant color palette that brings new focus to beloved favorites, and helps to highlight some new additions. Read more »

Space Shuttle Discovery Postponed Until Next Week

Kennedy Space Center ~ As most know, today’s launch was scrubbed due to a hydrogen leak being detected at the Ground Umbilical Carrier Plate, an attachment point between the external tank and a 17-inch pipe that carries the hydrogen safely away from Discovery to the flare stack, where it is burned off. It has officially been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 4:05am (YES, another final night launch!!!!). There will be no launch this coming up Monday, November 8th.
